As an incoming third-year BSc Economics and Politics student, I am running for the role of education officer as I have the knowledge, passion and awareness in financial analysis and industry knowledge to encourage and enable members to learn as part of EXSIF’s commitment to ‘Learn. Network. Invest.'
Why should I be in the role?Extensive experience in a committee as treasurer for the Economics Society, building organisational skills to distribute deadlines with external partners and financial sponsorsAn active member of EXSIF this year, benefiting from the educational events, wish to continue this for all new members
My ambitions for this year:
Target careers at the beginning of term one, collaborating with the careers officer to educate members of different paths in finance and insight/internship deadlines
Start committee workshops on psychometric, numerical and logical reasoning tests, and partner with test providers e.g. JobTestPrep to get demo versions for all members to practice
Start different valuation method workshops e.g. CCA alongside DCF walkthroughs
Increase trading simulations similar to AmplifyME e.g. partner with Finsimco/MDA Training, to practice trading strategies risk-free
Run informal industry research sessions with RMF sector PM’s discussing their analysis of the latest market trends with members, as highly useful for interviews
Work with industry experts on technical topics e.g. reading financial statements, commodity markets, futures and options tradingOrganise sustainable investing workshop during Sustainability Week discussing ESG, impact investing and green bonds
Ultimately continue the combined (introductory and advanced) financial analysis course to retain high attendance at events
