Hey everyone, I’m Milly, a first year Economics student and I’m running for events officer. I was drawn to this role because I’ve found the events to be the main draw of EXSIF so far this year so I’d love to get more involved in them. I also love planning events.
-Firstly, I would focus on introducing a skills development element to the events, for example through creating an EXSIF certificate. While I have enjoyed the talks this year, I think a big draw to future events could be the chance to learn tangible skills from them which could be used as valuable experience. Completing Project Finance Institute’s financial modelling course has inspired me to try and get the society involved in something similar because I found having skills to work towards helped motivate me to take a more active role in the project.
-I would also like to improve the advertisement of the events through greater explanation of what they involve. As someone who didn’t know what an investment fund was before joining the society, I think providing a breakdown on social media of what the events involve would make them less intimidating.
-I would also like to introduce more talks focusing specifically on investment funds, as well as the range of events that are currently on offer, to reinforce EXSIF’s niche compared to other societies.
-I would work more closely with the social secretary to create a greater link between the events and socials.
Hey everyone - I’m Milly and I’m a first year Economics student. I initially ran for events officer, but the current committee advised me the changes I would want to implement are more suited to education officer, so I have decided to run for it now there is an opening.
